update: the college is now calling the open house day on Tuesday November 9 "Experience Arts & Communication"
Planning for everyone Write a summary under your name of what you plan to do and link it to your "group project" page I just want to see the various ideas in one page.
some information about the department and teachers are posted below
I just created a new website to aggregate all our videos I already posted some from the past... check it outhttp://vbclass.mirocommunity.org/
We will also post on our posterous blog http://vbclass.posterous.com/ and individually on your respective Jimdo page
Lewis: add your content here
Troy: I will use video footage, and interviews with students and faculty. I will get this content from my Video Production Professor Adam Farrell(who has given me permission). He has equipment that will allow me to record and log and capture data that is relevant to this project. And Professor Philippe Lejeune from our video blogging class. I sure hope he allows me to do this. I will also be hopefully be able to assist my fellow classmates on there projects. Mainly Just the interview portions.
I plan to Interview students from both of my classes. My three interview questions will be based on what the class has for equipment or what browsers it uses.
Since I saw that Alexis wants to do this, I was also thinking about posting something about this on the CCCC facebook page to try to get some written responses from the students. There is also a CCCC theater page...what do you think?
Desiree: I'll be taking photos and video of my Drawing 1 class as well as Professor Lejeune's class. I'm working on editing the video and will post it as soon as I'm finished.
I also have pictures of Professor Lejeune's students working. I am contemplating on going to other classes as well. I might.
Sam: I'll be taking photos and video of the Middle-Eastern Dance class, along with interviews and student/teacher statements
and my plan is to post this material at regular intervals up to the actual open house to basically create an online presence for the event in conjunction with the rest of the VB class students.
Alexis: I will use a combination of photographs, video footage, and interviews with students and faculty. I will get this content from my digital photography taught by Elizabeth Hathon and my mosaics class taught by James Bowen (who has already given me permission), and I will also accompany my classmate Sam Holmstock to cover a Middle Eastern Dance Class.
I plan to collect photographs I like that my fellow photography students have tooken, and take photographs of my fellow students mosaic art as well as visit and photograph a huge mosaic mural done on the Cape by James Bowen and students on a bike path bridge. I will also photograph and film the dancers and the students in their studio/theater atmosphere. In each of these three classes I will interview as many students that will allow me to, and film their answers. My interview questions will be based on their experience with the CCCC Art Department.
I will also interview my brother who is a current art major, and possibly some of my friends who have taken art classes at CCCC in the recent past, as well as give input stemming from my own experience.
I was also thinking about posting something about this on the CCCC facebook page to try to get some written responses from the students.
Alexis There was a mistake in the way you posted your video... I will show you how to proceed when you call me on Skype
infos about the open house:
Date: Tuesday, November 9 - Thats my birthday!!!!! (Dan Peterson, I stole the editing lock to add this :) ) Time: All day Place: Tilden Arts Center Name: Experience the Arts @CCCC The plan would be to have all of our classes open to visitors on that day. We chose a Tuesday because there are plenty of performance classes on that day, in addition to our regular classes. What I need from you is buy in. Will you allow guests to wander in and out of your classes/studios on that day to observe you and your students in action? Can you help recruit some students that will act as ambassadors on that day to meet and greet guests in the lobby? What other ideas can you contribute to make this successful? Do you think we should include classes that meet in other buildings (i.e. graphic design, communication)?
Your feedback, cooperation, and action are all appreciated. posted by Nancy willets
What can you do?
suggestions:
write about your experience taking a class in the art department.
Take some photos or a videos of the campus art department
of your class... remember to ask first the authorization to your teacher
interview some students / ask them to talk about their experience... tell them why you are doing this for... going to be posted on a blog...

Now is our opportunity to break ground on a whole new open house experience. You may remember that I “volunteered” our department to be the models for what we think would be a more student friendly open house opportunity. It’s now that time.
